Anna Mioduchowska

Anna was born twice, the first time in Poland, and the second time in Canada, at the age of thirteen. Primarily a poet, she has also published stories, essays, translations and book reviews. Her work has appeared in anthologies, literary journals, in newspapers, on buses, and has aired on the CBC and CKUA Radio. She has published two poetry collections: In-Between Season and Some Souls Do Well in Flowerpots. Another poetry collection, Eyeing the Magpie, was published in collaboration with four fellow poets.

Most of her work is written in English, and she occasionally translates Polish poetry. Sixty poems, translated in collaboration with Myrna Garanis, appear in When You Speak, poetry of the Polish poet, Jan Twardowski. The bilingual edition was published by Wydawnictwo Literackie, Cracow, 2000.

Anna spent four years on the founding editorial collective of Other Voices magazine, several years on the board of the Stroll of Poets Society - two as president - plus a term on the Writers Guild of Alberta board of directors. She has also worked as a creative writing instructor.
