Maitham Salman

Maitham Salman is an Iraqi - Canadian writer. He was born in Iraq in 1970. He graduated from the University of Baghdad/ College of Art/ Department of Media in 1994. He left Iraq in 1997 going first to Jordan, and arrived in Canada as a political refugee in 1998, and since then he has been living in Edmonton, Alberta. His first novel (Husks as Big as My Country), written in Arabic, was published in 2011 by a Jordanian Publishing house: DAR-FADAAT. He has three book Manuscripts: a collection of prose texts, Bottle of Photos, and two collections of short stories: The Dirhams of Caliphate and A Sandy Wall. He has published many articles and short stories in various Arabic newspapers, magazines and websites in which he defends human rights, and criticizes the dictatorship and extremism. He is a writer member of PEN Canada.
